One of the main tasks facing the education system in the 21st century is to develop students' independent thinking, creativity, and communication skills. In this regard, Project-Based Learning (PBL) is recognized as one of the most effective approaches in modern pedagogy. This article focuses on exploring the content and essence of a competence-based approach required in the education system today, as well as its pedagogical possibilities in the language teaching process. Project-Based Learning is considered a modern pedagogical technology that has begun to be widely used in both foreign and local experiences. The main focus of the research is on the role of PBL in developing modern educational requirements such as communicative competence, independent thinking, creativity, and teamwork skills. The article analyzes the historical evolution of PBL (J. Dewey, W. Kilpatrick), its connection with Communicative Language Teaching (CLT), and its place in Uzbekistan and international experiences. The author proposes a system of goals, tasks, pedagogical possibilities, and project assignments designed for students at various levels. The research results indicate that the use of the PBL method makes English language lessons more effective, interactive, and result-oriented, creates a learner-centered educational environment, enhances students' intrinsic motivation, and prepares them for communication situations in real life.
