This article examines the lexical-semantic field of the concept of “sleep” in Turkish and Uzbek proverbs, with particular emphasis on how cultural and social values shape its figurative meanings within paremiological discourse. The study combines qualitative linguistic analysis with computational methods, including topic modeling, to identify both shared features and differences in the conceptualization of sleep across the two Turkic traditions. The findings reveal that in Turkish proverbs, sleep is symbolically associated with fate, predestination, and the cyclical nature of life, whereas in Uzbek proverbs it is linked to vigilance, spiritual self-control, and moral prescriptions. Such a comparative perspective demonstrates that proverbs function not only as repositories of folk wisdom but also as mechanisms of transmitting ethnopsychological perceptions of life stages and gender roles. Special attention is given to how the image of sleep metaphorically encodes cultural values, reflecting social expectations and behavioral models. The study concludes by emphasizing the necessity of culturally sensitive approaches in cross-linguistic and computational research on figurative language, thereby opening new perspectives for the further development of paremiology and cognitive semantics.
