The effects of different substrates on seed germination of the Iskandar and Sadaf rice varieties were evaluated. Vermicompost-based substrates increased germination energy to 99.6–99.8% and reduced the germination period from 9 to 7 days. The best results were obtained with a substrate containing 50% soil and 50% vermicompost.
