This paper investigates how genre constrains and shapes pragmatic choices in contemporary Spanish, drawing on corpus-based studies and intercultural research. Focusing on discourse markers, politeness strategies and speech-act realisations across academic, business and informal genres, it compares Peninsular and Latin-American varieties and juxtaposes native data with Uzbek learners’ production. By integrating international scholarship (e.g., Escandell-Vidal, Briz & Grupo Val.Es.Co) with Uzbek contributions published in The Lingua Spectrum (Karimova, Abduhakimova), the study highlights recurrent pragmalinguistic gaps and offers pedagogical recommendations for Spanish teaching in Uzbekistan. Methods combine qualitative corpus analysis with contrastive pragmatics, providing a nuanced view of genre-bound communication patterns.
