This article analyzes the theoretical foundations and methodological features of the anthropocentric paradigm, which is emerging as the leading scientific paradigm of modern linguistics. The author provides a comparative analysis of the main paradigms in the history of linguistics – comparative-historical, structural and anthropocentric approaches, and substantiates the advantages of the anthropocentric paradigm. Also, the role of the anthropocentric paradigm in cognitive linguistics is enriched with theoretical ideas and examples, highlighting the fact that language is a verbal expression of human consciousness. The article also lists the names of prominent linguists who contributed to the formation and development of this paradigm.
