This article explores the polysemy of specialized terms within various literary genres as a linguocognitive phenomenon. Drawing on foundational works in cognitive semantics and terminology theory (Apresjan, 1974; Cruse, 2000; Cabré, 1999), it examines how genre-specific contexts shape the emergence of multiple related senses of single lexical items. Through a systematic literature review, critical discourse analysis, and comparative typology, the study identifies cognitive mechanisms—such as metaphorical extension, metonymy, and domain blending—that underpin terminological ambiguity. The findings offer a refined framework for distinguishing sense-relations in terminological networks and have implications for lexicography, genre analysis, and knowledge representation.
