Restoring the image of a hero in literary translation is one of the most important tasks of a translator, since it is the characters who are the bearers of ideas, emotions and cultural codes of the work. This article examines the key strategies that translators use to preserve the integrity and expressiveness of the hero‘s image when transferring a text from one language to another. Both lexical and stylistic devices and pragmatic aspects of translation are analyzed, including the interpretation of the character’s motivation and character. Particular attention is paid to issues of cultural adaptation, transformation of speech characteristics and translation of the hero‘s idiostyle. The article provides examples from translations of classical and modern literature, revealing the features of translation decisions and their influence on the perception of the image of heroes by readers. The work can be useful for both practicing translators and researchers in the field of translation and literary studies. Particular attention is paid to his methods of preserving the integrity of the characters’ image, their speech characteristics and cultural context. Minavarov uses flexible strategies, including adaptation of the characters’ idiostyle, as well as transformation of vocabulary and stylistics for better perception by the Uzbek reader. The article analyzes how Minavarov’s translations help not only to convey the character of the hero, but also to deepen the perception of the works, making them accessible and relevant to a wide range of readers.
