The article examines the history of political processes that took place in Transoxiana in the 14th century in the work of the 18th-century French historian Marga de Tilly, entitled “The History of Tamerlane, Emperor of the Mongols and Conqueror of Asia”. The observations made by a French orientalist on the relationship between Amir Haji Barlos and Amir Temur in the struggle for control of Kesh were analyzed based on sources from the Timurid era. The study uses comparative analysis and problem-chronological methods. The French orientalist’s observations on the struggle of Amir Temur to create a centralized state are examined based on sources, and errors and shortcomings are discussed.
