This article describes the terrible events that befell the Polish people in 1939-1940, their forced deportation from their homeland, their encounter with the terrible violence of the Stalinist totalitarian regime that spread throughout the former Soviet Union, the suffering of the exiles in distant lands, and the help they received from the courageous Uzbek people during these ordeals.
