The preservation of the writer’s style is of paramount importance in literary translation, as the reader should have the same aesthetic impact from the translation of the literary text as from the original one. The author’s style constitutes lexical, grammatical, stylistic, syntactic choices and reflects the author’s personality and world picture. The ignorance of these choices in the target language, and inadequate conveyance of the expressive, emotive, figurative characteristics of the source text results in the loss of the originality of the literary text. The present paper aims to identify and analyze the peculiarities and possible problems of preserving and ways of transferring the author's style in literary translation at grammatical level on the example of translations of the novel by the American writer Francis Scott Fitzgerald "The Great Gatsby" into Russian.
