This paper explores the importance of using authentic materials to develop listening comprehension competence and highlights their ability to improve students’ understanding of language structures, emphasis and socio-cultural contexts. Listening comprehension is a key component of language skills, which includes not only the ability to hear and understand spoken language, but also the ability to process, analyze, and interpret information. The article also examines the benefits of interactive listening tasks, gradual increases in material difficulty, and post-listening activities, all of which help make listening skills more effective. The use of original materials for the development of listening comprehension competence increases the effectiveness of the language learning process. Original materials (audio, video, interviews, news programs, etc.) allow listeners to understand real and natural language, which helps them acquire the language contextually. This article analyzes the methods and benefits of developing listening comprehension competence using original materials. Original materials, i.e. texts based on real and natural use of language, are an important tool in developing listening comprehension competence. Such materials are grammatically and lexically rich and allow students to learn the language by listening to it in a natural environment.
