This article is dedicated to the study of the processes involved in identifying, forming, and developing student academic motivation. Academic motivation is a key factor that forms the psychological foundation of the educational process, encompassing both internal and external mechanisms that guide student activities. The article analyzes the concept of motivationand its theoretical underpinnings, diagnostic methods, and the psychological and social factors that influence motivation. It alsoproposes effective methods for assessing students’ academic motivation and offers recommendations for its development.
