This article explores how family upbringing conditions contribute to the development of self-esteem among university students. The study aims to identify psychological links between characteristics of the family environment and the individual’s self-evaluation. The research integrates theoretical perspectives with empirical data obtained through the assessment of students’ personal traits. The findings suggest that a supportive and well-balanced family context promotes stable and realistic self-esteem, whereas controlling or emotionally distant parenting patterns may lead to distorted self-perceptions. The results have practical implications for psychological support services in higher education and for designing preventive and developmental programs that consider family-related factors.
