This article analyzes the role and significance of the makhalla institution in the process of improving the system of public and state governance in the New Uzbekistan. It examines the development of citizens’ self-governance bodies within the framework of reforms aimed at ensuring human rights and freedoms. The study also considers the socio-legal foundations for strengthening the mahalla institution and enhancing its role in community governance and public oversight. Furthermore, thearticle analyzes the organization and activities of the “Makhalla Seven” (Mahalla yettiligi), as well as the functions of the publicstructure “Makhalla Control” (Mahalla nazorati) and their role in addressing social issues.
