This article provides a comprehensive analysis of the role of the shepherd archetype in literature, exploring its social, spiritual, and aesthetic functions. The shepherd figure, as an integral part of folk life, is highlighted as a significant literary device that reflects the social structure of society, as well as the lifestyle, worldview, and values of the working class. The study examines the formation and evolution of the shepherd archetype and its interpretations in both folklore and written literature. The findings reveal the significance of the shepherd archetype in Uzbek literature for the artistic interpretation of the national psyche and social life. They also underscore its role in instilling in the younger generation a spirit of industriousness, humanism, and a respectful attitude toward nature. Additionally, new interpretations and the artistic-aesthetic potential of this archetype within the contemporary literary process are also considered.
