This article examines the syntactic features of the artistic language of L.N. Tolstoy and I.S. Turgenev from a comparative perspective. Special attention is given to such parameters as sentence length and structure, complex subordinate constructions, syntactic period, parcellation, inversion, features of authorial syntax, and rhythmic organization of the sentence. The results of the study show that Tolstoy’s syntax is characterized by complexity, multilayered structure, and orientation toward the representation of consciousness and psychological processes, whereas Turgenev’s syntax is distinguished by harmony, rhythmic symmetry, and conciseness. The research material includes the novels War and Peace, Anna Karenina, Fathers and Sons, and A Nest of the Gentry.
