Modern translation studies is an interdisciplinary field that integrates linguistics, literary studies, cultural studies, and technology. Translation is not merely a word-for-word transfer of text but a complex process that preserves semantic, stylistic, contextual, and cultural layers. This study analyzes the main directions of modern translation studies, including linguistic, sociocultural, cognitive, contrastive, and technological approaches. It also examines key challenges in translation, such as semantic equivalence, stylistic consistency, cultural codes, difficulties in translating phraseological units and idioms, and the limitations of automated translation tools. The findings highlight that effective translation requires strong linguistic competence, a deep understanding of cultural context, cognitive analysis, and the rational use of technological tools.
