This article provides a scientific and theoretical analysis of the content, structural components, and necessity of developing research competence in Master’s education. Research competence is considered an important competence that enables Master’s students to conduct independent scientific inquiry, identify research problems, analyze scholarly literature, select appropriate research methodology, process data, and present research findings in an academic form. The article substantiates the main components of research competence, including methodological knowledge, practical research skills, critical thinking, academic writing, motivation, and scientific communication. It also analyzes the problems that arise in the process of developing this competence among Master’s students, such as insufficient methodological knowledge, low self-confidence, limited practical research experience, and the need for systematic pedagogical support.
