This article explores the concept of "age" from linguistic, cultural, social, and cognitive perspectives. Age is presented as a multifaceted notion that encompasses biological stages of ontogenetic development, social roles, and cultural stereotypes expressed through proverbs, phraseological units, and aphorisms. National folklore highlights both the positive and negative traits of youth and old age. A conceptual approach reveals age not only as a biological phenomenon but as a complex socio-cultural construct. The study also pays attention to the communicative-pragmatic roles of age-related language units in interpersonal interaction.
