This article analyzes the theoretical foundations of euphemism in French and Uzbek languages, focusing on its linguistic function and interaction with cultural determinants. Euphemism is considered not merely a stylistic device, but a vital communicative and cultural phenomenon that reflects social taboos, politeness norms, and aesthetic values. While French euphemisms often serve the purpose of political correctness and diplomatic tone, Uzbek euphemisms are deeply tied to traditions of respect, modesty, and social etiquette. The research highlights the dynamic nature of euphemisms, particularly how their overuse and lexicalization diminish their euphemistic value, prompting the emergence of new expressions. Drawing on literary texts, political discourse, and media language, the article provides comparative insights into how euphemisms reflect cultural identity and societal norms. The findings underline the role of euphemisms as a linguistic tool to navigate social sensitivity and maintain communicative harmony in culturally diverse settings.
