This article analyzes certain legal and practical issues related to compensation for damage caused by a crime. It examines the effectiveness of current legislation in restoring the violated rights and interests of victims, addresses problems in judicial practice, and highlights various approaches to calculating and compensating for damage. Furthermore, the article substantiates the need to protect victims’ interests through state guarantees and compensation funds in cases where the perpetrator is unable to provide compensation. The article also analyzes international experience and develops scientific proposals and practical recommendations for improving national legislation.
