Artificial intelligence-based audio materials provide university English teachers with flexible opportunities to create topic-specific, level-sensitive and repeatable listening input. This article develops a methodological model for using AI-generated audio materials in English language classes, with particular emphasis on listening comprehension in higher education. The study employs a design-oriented analytical approach based on the CEFR Companion Volume, UNESCO guidance on responsible generative AI, national priorities for foreign language education in Uzbekistan, and recent empirical studies of text-to-speech and AI-supported listening instruction. The resulting methodology comprises six stages: diagnosis of listening needs, formulation of measurable objectives, AI-assisted material creation, teacher-led quality control, staged classroom listening activities, and formative assessment combined with independent practice. The proposed model integrates pre-listening, while-listening and post-listening procedures and sets criteria for linguistic accuracy, audio naturalness, level appropriateness, intercultural relevance and ethical safety. The article concludes that AI-based audio materials can broaden students’ listening practice only when they are carefully checked by the teacher and combined with authentic spoken English and communicative follow-up tasks.
