In this article, relationships between proverbs and aphorisms in Uzbek and English languages, its specific features as a paremiological unit (parema) are focused. Similarities and differences with aphorisms are considered. In proverbs popularity, imagery, didacticism, conciseness, semantic-structural completeness, emotionality are illustrated with examples in two languages. Some stylistic tools used in proverbs are also mentioned in the article.
