The article provides a comprehensive comparative legal analysis of the interaction between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Kazakhstan in the protection of transboundary migratory species. Special attention is paid to the conservation of vulnerable ecosystems in the Aral-Ustyurt macro-region, through which vital migration corridors for the saiga and goitered gazelle pass. The study identifies a legal vacuum in which fragmented territorial protection is unable to protect animals from the threat of insurmountable artificial linear structures and poaching during their movement across the state border. To overcome these conceptual gaps, the institutionalization of “transboundary ecological corridors” in the legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the establishment of a single interstate biosphere reserve on the Ustyurt Plateau, and the interstate harmonization of tort liability institutions are proposed. The necessity of transitioning to the proactive and solidary management of adjacent ecosystems is substantiated.
