This article examines the development of American fairy tales of the 20th century as a result of a centuries-old creative heritage and an important need for the artistic interpretation of social phenomena. The contributions of American writers to the genre of realistic narrative in US literature are analyzed. Particular attention is paid to the scientific works of Uzbek literary scholars who studied the works of American authors and conducted their scientific research, identifying common and distinctive features in the development of the American narrative genre.
