This article examines political and diplomatic relations between the Khiva and Kokand Khanates in the mid-19th century, and their efforts to form a military-political alliance to resist Russian imperial expansion. The research is grounded in historical documents from the National Archive of Uzbekistan, notably two letters associated with the diplomatic mission led by Dust Niyaz. The content of these letters illuminates the regional political situation and the character of inter-khonate relations during that period.
