Abstract. This article proposes a firewall model based on dynamic filtering rules. The model represents packet processing as a single-server queuing system with a finite buffer under a Poisson arrival process and exponential service time distribution. Using a Markov process, the average queue length, waiting time, service time, and packet loss probability are determined. Optimal rule ordering is achieved by sorting rules in descending order of their statistical weights. The model reduces service delay and improves real-time filtering efficiency.
