The article analyzes mechanisms for overseeing the activities of private notaries and types of penalties for violations, based on international experience. It is shown that in many countries, in addition to license suspension, alternative measures such as reprimands, fines, and temporary removal from office are applied. The introduction of proportionate alternative sanctions and strengthening of control mechanisms in Uzbekistan's national notarial system is proposed.
