This article explores the history of the Navruz holiday as presented in the work of Abu Raykhan Beruni, “Monuments of Past Generations.” In this significant historical and ethnographic work, Beruni examines the origins and evolution of Navruz, shedding light on its astronomical, cultural, and social dimensions. The article analyzes how Beruni, through his scholarly approach, discusses Navruz not only as a celebration marking the new year but also as a deeply rooted ritual interwoven with the ancient beliefs, customs, and practices of various peoples. Special attention is given to the role of Navruz in fostering inter-ethnic unity and promoting social cohesion across different cultures. Additionally, the study reflects on how ancient traditions related to Navruz continue to influence modern practices and how the holiday remains a symbol of cultural heritage in Central Asia and beyond.
