The article provides a legal description of the grounds for compensation for damage caused by vehicles. Therefore, it is substantiated that compulsory civil liability insurance is not able to cover fully the damage caused by the use of vehicles and that in the future this legal relationship will be closely related to tort liabilities. At the same time, it is shown that compensation of damage determines the increased responsibility of owners of vehicles as owners of the source of increased risk. This article also analyzes the opinions of domestic and foreign scientists on the legal description of the grounds for compensation for damage caused by vehicles.
