There is ample evidence that using digital technology in learning improves understanding and reading skills. Much research has been carried out in the field of electronic English dictionaries. The main purpose of this article is to explore the importance of using electronic dictionaries for English language learners and their impact on the development of reading skills. The article presents the results of a survey on the use of electronic dictionaries. Particular attention in the questionnaire is paid to the use of electronic dictionaries by students studying English as a second or foreign language. The survey results showed that students often resort to using their preferred electronic dictionaries to look up specific terms, phrases, rules or words. The study confirms the usefulness of electronic dictionaries for students in improving reading skills during lectures, practical classes and independent work.
