The article analyzes priority directions of innovative development in global railway systems and their applicability in Uzbekistan. Using the experiences of Germany, France, Japan, China, and the United States, it comparatively presents evidence-based outcomes of digitalization, automation, energy-efficient and “green” technologies, as well as AI and IoT solutions. It identifies root causes of barriers in Uzbekistan’s railways related to infrastructure obsolescence, human capital, financing, and the regulatory environment. The author proposes a science-based package of solutions for phased modernization, establishment of intelligent control centers, digitalization of logistics hubs, workforce development, and expansion of public-private partnerships. Based on comparative analysis, the paper specifies conditions for sustained improvement in passenger and freight efficiency, safety, environmental indicators, and service quality. The proposed roadmap is adapted to national resources and regional specifics and is implemented step-by-step, grounded in socio-economic impact assessment.
