The article examines the specifics of manufacturing cast parts for 18-9597 model freight wagon carts and analyzes the impact of internal casting defects on their fatigue strength and operational reliability. The technological stages of manufacturing side frames and overhead beams, the chemical composition, and the mechanical properties of the casting steels used were analyzed. The most common types of casting defects occurring during the casting process, as well as the causes of their formation and localization in the most loaded zones of the cart parts, have been investigated. It has been established that internal defects of casting origin, such as shrinkage shells, porosity, non-metallic inclusions, and internal cracks, are stress concentrators and exert a significant influence on reducing the fatigue durability of cast parts in freight wagon carriages. An analysis was conducted on the most hazardous zones of side frames and overhead beams prone to fatigue damage and fractures during operation. Existing approaches to assessing the fatigue strength of cast parts have been examined, and the need for further research into the impact of internal defects on the service life and operational safety of freight wagons has been substantiated. The obtained results can be used to improve casting production technologies, develop methods for non-destructive testing, and increase the reliability of cast parts for freight wagon carriages under the operating conditions of the railways of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
