Selection of 11–12-year-old boxers for olympic and paralympic training centers based on a 4-week preparation and assessment stage in sports schools

This study addresses the selection of 11–12-year-old boxers from sports schools for centers specializing in Olympic and Paralympic sports training. A four-week preparation and assessment stage (BS/4) is proposed to supplement one-day testing with a broader evaluation of general and boxing-specific physical preparation. The initial screening involved 200 boys, while the main pedagogical experiment included 52 boxers (26 in each group). After four weeks, the experimental group achieved more favorable results on several tests. Eight of the ten between-group comparisons met the unadjusted p < .05 threshold; after Holm correction, only the differences in pull-ups and sparring scores remained statistically significant. A composite index assigning weights of 0.6 to general and 0.4 to special physical preparation is proposed for preliminary monitoring. This index supplements pedagogical assessment and does not replace the official admission procedure.
