This article conceptually analyzes the role and legal status of the State Security Service of the Republic of Uzbekistan (SSS) in the system of national security and law enforcement agencies. The article discusses the organizational and legal foundations of the service, stages of transformation, criminal procedural and operational-search powers, as well as new threats emerging in the context of modern globalization, in particular, the strategy for ensuring cybersecurity. Within the framework of the study, the scientific views of national and foreign scientists were compared, and a comparative legal analysis was carried out with the models of special services of the USA, Western Europe and the CIS countries.
