Annotatsiya

This article examines contemporary approaches to developing university students’ professional communicative competence in English. Drawing on research in English for Specific Purposes (ESP), task-based learning, professional simulations, project- and challenge-based learning, mobile and digital learning, AI-assisted language education, peer assessment, and reflection, the study proposes an integrated model for higher education. Professional communicative competence is conceptualized not merely as grammatical and lexical knowledge but as the ability to perform field-specific tasks in English, negotiate meaning, explain specialized information, use pragmatically appropriate language, and engage responsibly in professional communication. The proposed instructional sequence integrates needs analysis, authentic professional tasks, collaborative communication, digital support, and reflective assessment.
