This article scientifically analyzes the content, structural framework, and pedagogical significance of the concept of “metacognitivecompetence”, which holds a crucial place in the system of pedagogical and psychological sciences. The study highlights thepedagogical importance of metacognition as an individual's ability to recognize, plan, manage, and evaluate their own cognitiveprocesses (memory, thinking, attention, and perception). The article substantiates that the formation and development ofmetacognitive skills enhance students' level of self-regulated learning and ensure their proactive engagement in effective decision-making during problem-based situations. The article is intended for specialists and researchers dealing with pedagogicalpsychology, modern educational technologies, and the intellectual enhancement of learners.
