The article analyzes the main causes of conflict situations in young families and examines evidence-based ways of preventingthem. Mismatched communication styles, uncertainty in financial matters, the distribution of family roles and outside interferenceare studied as the main sources of conflict, and factors specific to the young families of military servicemen are consideredseparately. Drawing on foreign and national psychological research, the article substantiates methods of developing a culture ofcommunication -active listening, the “I-message”, taking a pause during emotional arousal and a regular family conversation -andoffers practical recommendations for young couples, family counselling specialists and military unit psychologists.
