The article analyzes the sociocultural place and role of sport in the lives of young people, its content as a social institution, and the social characteristics of sport-related categories such as cooperation, competition, rivalry, and sporting contest. It clarifies the relationship and distinctions between physical culture and physical education. The study also considers national sports games, with particular attention to the historical and cultural roots of Uzbek kurash and its sociocultural influence on young people. The analysis supports viewing sport as an important sociocultural phenomenon that contributes to youth socialization, healthy lifestyles, and the transmission of cultural values.
