Developing students’ practical competencies based on the steam approach

Annotatsiya

This article examines the development of practical competencies of future technology education teachers based on the STEAM (Science,Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) approach. The study analyzes the theoretical and methodological foundations of STEAMeducation, as well as its significance as a modern educational model grounded in the principles of constructivist pedagogy andinterdisciplinary integration. The essence of practical competence, its structural components, and its role in the process of technologyeducation are revealed. The findings indicate that the STEAM approach is an effective means of integrating students’ theoretical knowledgewith practical activities, developing problem-solving skills, creative and critical thinking, engineering thinking, and professionalcompetencies. Furthermore, the importance of project-based learning, problem-based learning, interactive teaching methods, and digitaltechnologies as key factors in the formation of practical competencies is substantiated.
