Annotatsiya

Agglomerations - dense metropolitan areas and urban clusters–play a crucial rolein the transition toward a green economy. This paper evaluates the impact of agglomerations ongreen economic development through three key indicators: CO₂ emissions, green employment, andenergy intensity. Based on analyses of data from the World Bank, OECD, UN-Habitat, peerreviewed scientific studies, and global statistical databases, the findings reveal that whileagglomerations account for the majority of energy-related emissions, they also provide significantopportunities to reduce per capita CO₂ emissions, create a large number of green jobs, andimprove energy efficiency. However, these positive outcomes are only achievable wheninfrastructural, institutional, and policy frameworks are properly aligned. The paper concludeswith socio-economic recommendations aimed at maximizing the green potential of urbanagglomerations.
