This article examines the evolution and transformation of the Uzbek national school of composition, with a focus on its institutional and stylistic developments in the 21st century. Drawing on the pedagogical practices of the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan and the newly established The Institute of Uzbek National Musical Art named after Yunus Rajabi, the study highlights the unique integration of maqom traditions, the aruz poetic system, and national instrumentation into modern composition education. Particular attention is given to the Department of Composition, Bastakor and General Piano, which was founded in 2021 with the aim of cultivating a new generation of composers grounded in maqom-based creativity. Innovative projects, such as the creation of the first digital dutar library, further illustrate the department’s commitment to preserving and reinterpreting Uzbek musical heritage. The department’s achievements, including the organization of the International Festival on Maqam Creativity, mark a new chapter in the global recognition of Uzbekistan’s national compositional identity.
