This article explores the theoretical, methodological, and practical dimensions of improvisation in piano performance. Improvisation is interpreted as a process that activates musical thinking, fosters creative expression, and shapes an individual artistic voice. Based on an experimental teaching model, the study demonstrates that systematic integration of improvisation into piano education enhances harmonic reasoning, rhythmic stability, stage communication, and reflective self-assessment. The principle of “freedom within limits” enables students to manage creative risk, develop stylistic flexibility, and strengthen aural memory. The article also highlights the importance of integrating national musical traditions—such as maqom, epic singing (bakhshichilik), and oral creativity—into piano pedagogy to reinforce cultural identity and artistic confidence. The findings indicate that improvisation in piano performance functions not merely as a technical skill, but as a central component for developing musical cognition, individuality, and communicative competence in the modern performer.
