Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a complex disease manifested by the disruption of intestinal functions and numerous gastroenterological symptoms. The signs of this syndrome are typically associated with gastrointestinal symptoms such as constipation, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and increased gas. IBS often develops as a consequence of stress and an unhealthy lifestyle, and it is frequently linked to psychological states like fatigue and depression. Medical personnel, who deal with high workloads and psychological stress, may be particularly susceptible to this condition. Today, research on the prevalence of IBS among medical personnel and its prevention is of great importance. This article analyzes the epidemiological indicators of IBS prevalence, the factors contributing to its development in medical personnel, and provides practical recommendations for disease prevention. In particular, it offers suggestions for the detection and prevention of IBS in clinical practice. Furthermore, in this article, the authors used the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) to study the prevalence of these conditions among medical personnel. During the study, the medical personnel were divided into main and comparison groups. The comparison group received conventional treatment measures. The main group underwent preventive measures aimed at improving rational nutrition and mental health (additionally, auriculotherapy, electrosleep therapy, and yoga exercises were administered). These interventions helped to significantly reduce IBS symptoms.
