The article presents the results of a comparative study to determine the optimal methodfor assessing temperament for use in the selection of promising athletes. Using three methods for determining temperament (questionnaires by G. Aizenka and O. Strelyau, reflex and motor tests by B.P. Ilyin), 76 volunteers were examined.It was shown that when testing according to the G. Aizenka questionnaire, to a greater extent than according to the O. Strelyau questionnaire, the mobility of the manifestation of temperament with fluctuations of a subjective nature can be revealed. For the purpose of selecting promising athletes, it is preferable to use temperament tests, which are based on the study of the typological properties of the central nervous system by reflex-motor methods.
