Annotatsiya

This article shows that the aspect of age plays a catalyzing role in shaping speaker`s politeness strategies, hence this research paper examines how politeness patterns, as well as, behavior varies across different age groups in spoken discourse. This research employed a descriptive and qualitative approach to compile data from several respondents and analyze elaborately in terms of age on the use of politeness strategies in communication. According to the findings, it is indicated that when interacting with older interlocutors, speakers tend to use more formal, respectful and indirect expressions that are often realized as negative politeness strategies. Simultaneously, conversations among individuals of the same group are generally characterized by more informal style and he frequent use of positive politeness strategies that emphasize unity, solidarity and particularly closeness. Hence, age become an important social variable of power influencing politeness techniques in the region.
