This article develops frame-semantic criteria for distinguishing moral-emotional concepts from purely emotional and purely moral concepts. Four criteria are tested on English and Uzbek material, revealing the internal differentiation of the Uzbek lexemes uyat, nomus, hayo, andisha and the asymmetry between the two language systems.
