The article examines the theoretical foundations of the correlation between frame and concept as basic categories of cognitive linguistics. Special attention is paid to their role in the representation ofknowledge, the modeling of the linguistic picture of the world, and the processes of categorization. Variousapproaches to defining frame and concept are analyzed, and their common and distinctive features are identified. It is emphasized that the frame and the concept, being closely interconnected, represent complementary mechanisms of cognitive comprehension of reality.
