The article is devoted to the study of the second edition of Abdullah Kadiri’s novel «Scorpionfrom the Altar», published in 1933. By comparing it with the first edition and analyzing the changes made tothe text, it is concluded that most of these changes served to improve the text, enhance the style, providevarious clarifications through detailing, etc. At the same time, the text also contains changes that cannot beconsidered the author’s: some of them are editorial changes, which are sometimes appropriate, while othersarose simply as a result of technical omissions.
