This article examines the theoretical and methodological foundations of studying the cultural history of the early Saka tribes through the prism of conceptual approaches in modern historiography and archaeology. Based on new archaeological data, the paper reveals the groundlessness of such concepts as “Eurocentrism” and “pure nomadism” that dominated the scientific discourse for a long time. Based on the material of such monumental sites of the Aral Sea region as Chirik-Rabat, Babish-Mulla, South Tagisken, and Uygarak, the study demonstrates the formation of early urbanism, agricultural culture, and a complex social hierarchy within the Saka society. Furthermore, the article analyzes the idea of “Scythocentrism” and theoretically substantiates the leading role of the Central Asian center in the genesis of the famous “animal style” art and advanced weaponry, identifying this region as a major ethnocultural crossroads where Western and Eastern cultural flows intersected.
